Day 1: Arrive in xining (-)
Arrive in Xining and begin your journey with a visit to the Tibetan Medical Museum, an excellent introduction to the region's unique heritage. Later, immerse yourself in the city's Islamic culture at the historic Dongguan Mosque, admiring its distinctive architecture. The experience continues with a stroll through the vibrant old streets nearby, where you can soak up the local atmosphere and sample authentic Qinghai snacks. This day offers a perfect overview of the diverse cultural influences that define the region.Enjoy a one-night stay in Xining.
Xining, the capital of Qinghai Province, sits on the Tibetan frontier, where Han, Tibetan, and Muslim cultures meet. As the starting point of the Qinghai–Tibet Railway, it offers a first glimpse into the vast landscapes and spiritual heritage of the plateau.

Day 2: overnight train to Lhasa (B)
Hotel breakfast and check out.In the morning, visit Taer Monastery, one of the most important Tibetan Buddhist monasteries, known for its intricate architecture and vibrant religious life.After the visit, transfer to Xining Train Station and board an overnight train to Lhasa. Travel in a soft-sleeper cabin (4 people sharing). Rail timetable for your reference: Z21 15:15 – 12:28 (+1) or Z265 19:40 – 16:56 (+1).
The train features a dedicated dining car serving Chinese meals and light snacks throughout the journey. All carriages are equipped with a continuous oxygen supply system for passenger comfort.Overnight on train.

Altitude Preparation is Essential
While the train provides supplemental oxygen, the route traverses high mountain passes with altitudes between 4,000 to over 5,000 meters. Acclimatization varies by individual, and travelers may still experience symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). We strongly recommend consulting with your physician prior to travel, understanding your personal health condition, and preparing adequately for the high-altitude environment.
